What a delightful read to start my Saturday morning, Shell! Your book recommendation was fascinating, and the tartlet recipe sounds absolutely heavenly. This was the perfect companion to my first cup of coffee—better than the morning newspaper! Thank you for sharing such a lovely burst of inspiration and delicious ideas. 🍏✨
I also have childhood memories of picking blackberries. Except my grandma made them into a tarte which was just store bought pie dough covered with blackberries and a light sprinkle of sugar. Your tartlets look so much more sophisticated. 👍 Need to add this cookbook to my “to-bake” list
My favourite dessert in a tart, what's not to love?! Also the part about what not to make with blackberries was super helpful, surprised about white chocolate though!
Thanks! I do feel a bit vulnerable being open about my failures, but that's how we learn isn't it! I can't decide if my ratio was off or if it was the white chocolate itself. It was fairly good quality, but not the best. Which is so important in a ganache isn't it! One to continue experimenting with I think.
Don't be, I love to read about things that go wrong, it brings a level of human to it; when I first started baking I was posting all my results on Instagram and made a point of sharing the good, the bad and the ugly. Because it's all about the process and I want to show how accessible baking can be to anyone, and that it's not always going to go to plan but that's the beauty of it, you get to problem solve and improve! (Apologies for rambling haha). White chocolate and blackberry sounds like a great pair so could be the ratios, I'm sure you will figure it out! I am yet to attempt a ganache 🫣
something so precious about a tartlet...it says "all for me."
Absolutely, I agree!
Yay for Tartober!!
I agree!!

That sounds a beautiful memory! 😍 There is something about blackberry picking and grandma's isn't there!
Aw thank you, and I hope you enjoy the book as much as I have!
I have to try this. What a lovely recipe 10/10 !
Thank you Sheryl! I've been loving your recipes too.
Do let me know how you get on ❤️

Thank you and I agree on all counts! And it's so nice to see your own progress too isn't it.
I love a ganache. If you haven't already seen it, you might enjoy a post I wrote about ganache and how to avoid/fix a split: https://open.substack.com/pub/bakeexperiments/p/whats-the-best-way-to-fix-a-split?r=19i5q8&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
Oh amazing, thankyou! 🫶🏻
